"In my opinion, perhaps considered wrong by some people, he made us lose the fourth and fifth one-dayers," Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Butt said in an interview.

Nasser Hussain Calls Indian Fielders 'Donkeys'




The former England captain Nasser Hussain has once again rubbed the wrong way as the Indians called asses some of the defenders' "during the one-off Twenty20 match in India and England on Wednesday.

Sitting in the comment box, Hussein commented Parthiv Patel controversial misjudged a catch off Kevin Pietersen bowling Munaf Patel.

"I would say the difference between the two side is the fielding. England are all-round a good fielding side. I do believe that India have few...3or 4 very good fielders and one or two donkeys in the field still," Hussain said.

BCCI Hussain criticized for his comments: "I think he made this comment is totally unjustified. Who made the comment should adopt sidewalk watching the players. Each player must be respected, regardless of their performance. I do not think this comment was appropriate. No doubt, will look like. "said Rajiv Shukla, vice president of BCCI.

His unwanted comments invited criticism from all sides. "It is not acceptable, and nobody has the right to say these things, still his team. This is a gentleman's game and the BCCI has sent a strong letter to the International Cricket Council to avoid these things in the future," Pakistan Legend Zaheer Abbas told a television channel.

Ijaz Butt Said Afridi won't captain Pakistan again

KARACHI: Pakistan cricket chief Ijaz Butt has said former one-day captain Shahid Afridi will never lead the national side again, blaming him for losing matches against the West Indies in May.

"In my opinion, perhaps considered wrong by some people, he made us lose the fourth and fifth one-dayers," Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Butt said in an interview.

"As far as I am concerned he is not captaincy material for the PCB anymore," said Butt of Afridi, who was dumped as captain after Pakistan won the overall series against the West Indies 3-2.

US Embassy holds gay, lesbian ceremony in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy has arranged the first ever gay, lesbians and transgender pride celebration ceremony in Islamabad and assured its participants that Washington would continue to support their cause here in Pakistan.

The US Embassy issued a press release on June 26 in which it made it public that Charge d’ Affaires Ambassador Richard Hoagland, and members of Gays and Lesbians in Foreign Affairs Agencies (GLIFAA) hosted Islamabad Embassy’s first ever gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender (GLBT) Pride Celebration on June 26.

It further states that this gathering demonstrated continued US Embassy support for human rights, including GLBT rights, in Pakistan at a time when those rights are increasingly under attack from extremist elements throughout Pakistani society.

Over 75 people including mission officers, US military representatives, foreign diplomats, and leaders of Pakistani GLBT advocacy groups attended the ceremony. In formal remarks, the charge d’ affaires underscored President Obama’s May 31, 2011 GLBT Pride Proclamation: “We rededicate ourselves to the pursuit of equal rights for all, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity”.

Addressing the Pakistani GLBT activists, the charge d’ affaires, while acknowledging that the struggle for GLBT rights in Pakistan is still beginning, said: “I want to be clear that the US Embassy is here to support you and stand by your side every step of the way”.

Afridi quits international cricket

Former skipper Pakistan cricket team Shahid Khan Afridi has announced retirement from international cricket here late on Monday,

According to sources, Afridi’s disagreement with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over some issues resulted in his early retirement.

He said it was hard for him to play under a cricket board, which pays no respect to senior players.

“I cannot work with the people who find it difficult to tolerate statements in favour of cricket,” he stated, saying that the duty of a coach is to work for the welfare and in favour of team.

Ali Saleem’s mother Farzana Saleem called the police this morning and informed them that her son hit her and also broke her nose and that she was in trouble.
Ali Saleem, who also participated in Big Boss 4, along with Veena Malik, is having property dispute with his family, which has now taken an ugly turn.
While talking to media, Ali said, “It is my personal matter and I don’t want to disclose it in front of public.” However, Ali did accept his mistake and looks forward to resolve the dispute.

Al Qaeda leader bin Laden dead, says Obama

WASHINTON: Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed on Sunday in a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan and his body was recovered, President Barack Obama announced on Sunday.

"Justice has been done," Obama said in a dramatic, late-night White House speech announcing the death of the elusive mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the New York and Washington.

Obama said U.S. forces led the operation that killed bin Laden. No Americans were killed in the operation and they took care to avoid civilian casualties, he said. "The United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda and a terrorist who is responsible for the murder of thousands of men, women and children," Obama said. It is a major accomplishment for Obama and his national security team, after many Americans had given up hope of ever finding bin Laden.

Pakistani Films screening at SAARC Film Festival


Two Pakistani films have been accepted for screening at the SAARC Film Festival starting from May 11 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
‘Mohabbatan Sachiyan’ and ‘Shackles Yet to Open’are the two films selected to represent Pakistan at the festival. Shahzad Rafique, who has directed both the films, had the English subtitling done from India. The top three films will be awarded at the end of the event.
The Saarc Film Festival will aim to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and shared points of view from film directors from the region. Also, it will focus on promoting some of the best film released in 2010 from all the member states.
